Freeride Teams

Our Whitewater Freeride Team is our competitive program for the emerging ski star aged 10 – 18 years, who want to go from average joe to nearly pro in all aspects of skiing and riding. This is a competitive program with an opportunity to learn new skills in a safe, supportive and fun environment.  With safety in mind, our freestyle instructors will teach skiers how to perfect airs, jump with confidence and hone their overall free ride skills. Take a look at our Freeride Team, Central Snowboard Academy and the Freeride Development Team.

For those looking for a more race focused training program please check out the Whitewater Ski Team.

The Whitewater Freeride Team is an elite level competitive skiing program for athletes aged 12-18. The program will consist of 14 total weeks of training and competing. Training is held 1 day per week from mid-December through the end of March.
The team will also travel to competitions throughout the season. The team will attend 5 events throughout the season as well as attending the championship event in April. Athletes are not obligated to attend every event that coaches are present at. Further, those athletes that do wish to attend the maximum number of events allowed under the IFSA rules are encouraged to only attend events in which coaches will be present.
To qualify for the team, all athletes MUST be invited by the head coaches. Therefore, all new athletes coming to the freeride program will be required to register for the Development program. Exceptions may be made in some circumstances after consultation with the head coaches.
Yearly team fees are for coaching only. This includes training as well as event coaching. Season passes for Whitewater, IFSA athlete registration fees, as well as all travel and competitive expenses are not included. The Development Team is an advanced level skiing program designed to prepare athletes for the competitive Freeride Team. The program consists of 12 weeks of training from mid-December through mid-March. Training is held 1 day per week.
In order to qualify for the team, athletes must be capable of skiing parallel on all single black diamond terrain at Whitewater. As this program focuses on developing freeriding skills, the majority of the time athletes will be skiing on ungroomed terrain, primarily in steep and treed areas. This corresponds to the snow schools ability chart of level 5. If your child is not ready or willing to be in these areas, regardless of conditions, then this is not the right program. In the case of athletes not being ready, the coaches will suggest moving the athlete to the snow school’s weekend camp program in order to solidify the athlete’s basic skills with the goal of moving back to the Development Team. Athletes that wish to try competing are encouraged to sign up for the Whitewater Jr Freeski Open. Registration fees are not included as part of the program tuition. Details about the event will be released in December.
Yearly team fees are for coaching only. Season passes for Whitewater are not included.
