The predictions for La Nina this year in our backyard are calling for colder temperatures than normal as well as more precipitation than normal.  Simply put this means more of that fluffy, bottomless, glorious snow for us lucky mountain loving folks here at Whitewater!  A better snow year than normal and the new Glory Ridge chair opening on the backside?!  Sounds amazing if you ask me.

Have you purchased your early bird season pass yet?  We have had quite a few people over the past few weeks getting theirs and telling us their own predictions for winter, all reflecting the same ideas that this is going to be a big one! 

Some folks say they can just feel it in their bones, some have told me that these epic winters are on an 11 year cycle and the last one was....you guessed it ~ 11 years ago. I've heard the rabbits are shedding their coats and donning new bright white ones, suggesting nature knows when to expect a snow filled winter and these smart little rabbits are preparing their camouflage. In the Eastern parts of North America the woolly worms are a sure tale sign of what kind of winter to expect. The thinner the brown band on these caterpillars the more severe the winter.  Some say crickets and spiders in the house are all signs that winter is coming in a major way.
