Glory Ridge Tentative Opening

2010-12-17 by Rebeckah Hornung ......................................................................................

Load testing for Whitewater Resort's new Glory Ridge triple chair is happening over the next few days in preparation for the lift's tentative opening day, this upcoming Wednesday, Dec. 22. NOTE: this has changed, please see comment below.

Safe to say, with over 240 new hectares of new terrain available thanks to Glory Chair's service, Whitewater is stepping up.

Whitewater's Joe Gilbert and GM Brian Cusack are all smiles before diving into Glory's big-time bounty.  They are not the only people seen taking the last few historical hitches from the 8km mark of Whitewater's access road.

They are not the only ones that are all smiles either.  All the skiers and snowboarders at the mountain have been seen bearing grins with over a metre of beautiful Kootenay snow blanketing Whitewater in the past week.  The latest storm cycle has provided excellent conditions on both Silver King and Summit sides.  Anyone elses' legs aching?!

Thanks to Darren Davidson for the photos!

"This was my first year living in Nelson and Whitewater delivered more than I could have ever hoped for. I had a chance to tour the powder highway and some of the big mountains BC has to offer and all I wanted to do was come back to WH2O and drop into backside. If you are looking for steep and deep, this is the place to go!"
