Sunday ski

Whitewater has been serving it up lately and the boyz and myself have been answering the call, like hapless sailors drawn to voices in the mist. Sundays seem to be the day to hit the epic backcountry around the ski area and today was no exception. We had planned to head somewhere abroad but with a fresh dump there was no sense driving too far, and in the end we found ourselves touring in areas none of (the seven of!) us had been- into Seaman Creek and skiing the big ramp on South Seaman, visible from the resort and coveted for many years by yours truly. I’ll be the first to admit, however, that it wasn’t nearly as steep as in my mind’s eye (where I’m on a steep spine with slough pouring off both sides into oblivion). For example, I’m pretty sure it went uphill at one point but regardless it got shredded and we never looked back. Apex, Qua, Seaman, and Kutetl Creeks were sampled on this epic day. Next time we'll have to add a lap in Five Mile and a White Queen finish.

Thanks to the bar for staying open late!

"If you like deep snow, steep tree lines, and access to some fantastic lift assisted backcountry, Whitewater is for you. With over 45 ft a year of the white fluffy stuff there is nothing a person could like more"
