Winter Thoughts on a Hot Summer Day

Well, first and foremost, the Whitewater Office has moved! Our new location at 602 Lake Street is starting to feel like home…home with drills and hammering. Although you cannot see it from the front, we are still under renovations as we work to finish the kitchen for the new Whitewater Fresh Tracks Cafe Express. That is right – Whitewater has ordered a new food truck (that some of us have affectionately nicknamed Pow Chow) that will roam the streets of Nelson in the summer and stay parked at the base of Glory during the winter to satisfy your powder charged hunger. We are still without a guaranteed time of arrival other than it will be sometime in August. What can be guaranteed is this little mobile dream will be serving the same mouth watering feed that Whitewater is known for. Glory Bowl anyone?

What else? Lodge renovations are what! Coal Oil Johnny’s is getting a facelift. Your favourite place to consume a Faceplant is now going to be brighter and more spacious! No more fighting for a seat in the bar at the end of the day equates to more ability for us to serve you the feed you need to complete your day. The best part is it will be licensed as a family restaurant meaning that all is welcome!

Ok. Ok. I know what you really want to hear about. What is happening on the mountain you ask? Well, as per usual, our mountain team has been working hard to get the lifts and equipment ready to rock and roll for this upcoming winter. And now that Monsoon June is over they are working up and out to clean up the mess that the rain made so they can get back to working on the fun stuff. Run improvements. We are bringing back our beloved spider hoe to clean up more stumps, rocks, and whatever else gets in the way of perfected ski lines. Work will be done of course to Glory but we are hoping to up the Silver King game too.
