Why Big Red Cats?

Location and terrain:
We are located between Whitewater and Red Mountain in the Monashee range in B.C. Below are some statistics and numbers:
- 185 run that we ski - a number of these can be skied 2-3 times
- 3,000 vertical feet is our longest run
- 1,300 vertical feet is our average run length - average is longer for expert and advanced days
- 10-12 is the average number of runs per day
- Our run mix is 24% Double Black, 56% Black runs, and 20% Blue runs
- 30% of our runs are open, 40% are nicely spaced glades, and 30% is good tree skiing
- We ski on every aspect of our runs - 30% east, 20% north, 25% west and 25% south

This incredible powder getaway will allow you to warm up for 2 days at Whitewater, before heading over to Big Red Cats for one day of blissful snow cat skiing. Spend your nights at the conveniently located Mountain Hound Inn.

Kootenay Powder Sampler Package**
Take a tour around the Kootenays and make this your powder adventure of a lifetime! The Mountain Hound Inn or Hume Hotel, located in downtown Nelson will be your home base for 4 nights. Spend 2 days warming up at Whitewater Ski Resort, then head over to Red Resort and explore their mountain for a day. From there, spend 1 day snow cat skiing with Big Red Cats and finally head out to Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort for a relaxing, well deserved soak in their famous hot springs.

What's New at Big Red Cats
The addition of the 2 new mountains will be Big Red Cats 6th and 7th mountains, and are called Claw Mountain and Mt China . The 2 new mountains will open up about another 3,000 acres of skiable terrain. This will allow Big Red Cats to use virtually all of its nearly 19,000 acres of terrain. The new mountains will also open about 100 new runs that have never been skied before. Big Red Cats also plans to do extensive glading for the coming winter.
Big Red Cats also announced the 7 summits challenge.Only advanced and expert groups of a full 12 people will be able to sign up for the 7 summits challenge. This will involve a quest to ski each of the 7 summits in one day. Those groups that achieve this will receive a limited edition 7 summits T-shirt and a CD/DVD showing some of the best runs of the day. Only 1 group per day will be allowed to attempt the 7 summits challenge in one day. Guests that do not have a group of 12 will be able to sign up for the 7 summits tour - this will available for experts only, and will normally involve skiing over 20,000 vertical feet in one day in some great challenging terrain in a quest to ski all 7 summits.
