When it comes to skiing and riding, the Whitewater Ski Resort has variety and then some. Choose from steeps, deeps, chutes, bowls, glades, groomed cruisers and gentle rollers. New this season is the Whitewater Rail Park and Clinics that are designed to turn participants into rail pros in no time. Along with all the natural launch pads and hits you can imagine, the mountain is a natural winter playground.
Far from the hustle and bustle of today’s larger ski resorts, Whitewater owes its laid back reputation to small lift lines, nice prices and big hospitality. A full line up of Rossignol equipment rentals and repair shop, the Whitewater Store, childcare and guest services can all be found on the main level.
The Fresh Tracks Café located on the second level offers a high quality and fantastic array of food prepared fresh fight in form of you. It’s reasonably priced, eclectic, healthy, tasty and honoured as the best at any Canadian winter resort. Locally brewed beer and après ski snacks served in Coal Oil Johnny’s Pub will be on the perfect excuse to unbuckle your boots at the end of a powder filled day.
The Whitewater Nordic Centre was built in partnership with Kalesnikoff Lumber Company in what remains an unprecedented example of environmental stewardship. After drafting an innovative trail design, the Hummingbird Pass was selectively harvested maintaining both its visual and ecological integrity. Winding from the Daylodge, 11 trails – groomed and track set – serve up stellar skiing loops suitable for all levels of Cross country skiing.
The supernatural backcountry surrounding Whitewater Ski Resort is a place for adventure, peace and above all - respect. Before venturing out of bounds, Whitewater management strongly recommends all skiers and snowboarders be equipped with the appropriate gear and be educated in backcountry knowledge and avalanche awareness. Local avalanche conditions and ratings can be obtained from the Canadian Avalanche Association website at www.avalanche.ca
Guests travelling into the area on a ski vacation can take advantage of the discounts added to the Ski and Stay packages. Those with an interest to combine their days at Whitewater with a day at Red Mountain, snowcat ski, heli ski or overnight at our famous hot springs in Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort can check out the Kootenay Rockies Sampler package. The choices are all up to the guests – the adventure, length of stay and destination day and night! Check out the Vacation Planner for more information!
Remember, it’s all about the snow. Some ski resorts measure their seasonal snowfall in metres, others in feet. Since 1976, Whitewater’s legendary winter weather has instead been measured in stories – the kind you take home and tell again and again.
Come for a day, a week or for the whole season and ski Whitewater Winter Resort. It’s snow you’ll never forget.
