The Mountain
......................................................................................Whitewater Ski Resort is: Pure, simple and real...DEEP
Attracting attention from around the world, Whitewater is known for one thing…POWDER. The 2010/2011 season welcomed even more of that powder we love with the new Glory Ridge chair accessing the area known as the backside offering an additional 749 acres and 2044' vertical of new terrain!
Cradled in the heart of British Columbia’s legendary Selkirk Mountains and renowned for epic winters, Whitewater hosts a dependable dry snowfall that often totals more than 12 metres a season, that’s more than 40 feet! Far from the maddening crowds of the mega resorts, Whitewater owes its well-deserved laid back reputation to short lift lines, reasonable prices and big hospitality. Our guests tell us that’s what really matters in a resort while on a ski vacation. Download your Whitewater desktop wallpaper and get yourself stoked on the experience!
When it comes to skiing and riding, Whitewater Ski Resort serves up an endless feast of terrain. Explore our stunning array of steeps, deeps, chutes, bowls, glades, groomed cruisers and gentle rollers. Combined with all the natural launches, drops, and hits you can shake your sticks at, Whitewater is the ultimate natural winter playground. In the unlikely event you get tired of rocking all the natural features you can always test your mettle on the metal in the Whitewater Rail Park.
A rustic and cozy full service daylodge offers everything you could want to complement your day on the mountain. You can gear up with our full line up of Rossignol, Dynastar and Armada equipment rentals at our rental and repair shop, spot what you forgot (from mittens to ibuprofen) at the Whitewater Store, and drop the kids off with our Snow School for just an hour or up to a full day of lessons in our Adventure Centre’s Whitewater Ski and Board Club.
Located on the second floor, the Fresh Tracks Café cooks up a fantastic assortment of high quality food prepared fresh right in front of you. Our Head Chef Amanda Skidmore is guaranteed to impress you with her daily specials. With a well priced, eclectic, healthy, and phenomenally tasty menu, the Fresh Tracks Café is consistently honoured as the finest ski resort food in Canada! Haven’t had enough? Take some of our famous recipes home by picking up a copy of the Whitewater Cooks or the Whitewater Cooks at Home cookbook, written by our own Shelley Adams!
Locally brewed organic beer from Nelson Brewing Company (NBC) and après ski snacks served in Coal Oil Johnny’s Pub make the perfect excuse to kick back and unbuckle the boots at the end of a powder-perfect day.
Groomed nordic trails for both skate and classic skiing are also available at the Whitewater Nordic Centre. Winding from the Daylodge, 13 trails – groomed and track set – serve up stellar skiing loops suitable for all levels. Due to its location, the high elevation terrain provides reliable snow to cross country skiers.
Ready to plan your Whitewater winter adventure? Take advantage of the great discounts included using our Ski and Stay packages. Combine your ski days at Whitewater with a day at a nearby snowcat or heli-skiing lodge, or visit the famous Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort. The choices are all up to you! Check out the Vacation Planner section of our webiste for more information. Come for a day, a week or the whole season to experience what Whitewater Ski Resort has to offer.
Remember, it’s all about the snow. Some ski resorts measure their seasonal snowfall in metres, others in feet. Since 1976, Whitewater’s legendary winter has instead been measured in stories – the kind you take home and tell again and again.
It’s snow you’ll always remember. Pure, Simple and Real…DEEP
........................................................................."This was my first year living in Nelson and Whitewater delivered more than I could have ever hoped for. I had a chance to tour the powder highway and some of the big mountains BC has to offer and all I wanted to do was come back to WH2O and drop into backside. If you are looking for steep and deep, this is the place to go!" Scott - Nelson BC
